Sometimes modern life can seem to be full of demands, hassles, deadlines and frustrations. People can be constantly on the go. For many people, stress is so common that it has become a way of life. A bit of stress or anxiety isn’t always bad, in small doses, a bit of stress can help you perform under pressure and motivate you to do your best.
Most people will have experienced some form of anxiety or stress, for example before an exam, interview or even before a date, and this is quite normal. However if you’re constantly running in emergency mode, or the anxiety is overwhelming your performance and health can start to suffer. In some cases this can be very distressing and debilitating, adversely affecting your mood, your relationships, your productivity and your quality of life.
Hypnotherapy, Energy Healing and EFT are all very effective for stress and anxiety. All three treatments promote relaxation; give your mind the space to slow down and your body the chance to restore itself.
Stress is a normal physical response to events or situations that make you feel threatened or upset your balance in some way. When you sense danger, whether it’s real or imagined, the body automatically switches into a higher gear, ‘fight or flight’ mode. When you perceive a threat, your nervous system responds by releasing a flood of stress hormones designed to get ready for emergency action. Your heart pounds faster, muscles tighten, blood pressure rises, breath quickens, and your senses become sharper. These physical changes increase your strength and stamina, speed up your reactions, and enhance your focus – preparing you to either fight the ‘danger’ or escape from it. The third alternative to this is to freeze and be unable to do anything, sometimes this happens when the threat seems too extreme to do either of the other responses.
So the stress response is the body’s way of protecting you. In emergency situations, stress can save your life – giving you extra strength to defend yourself, or get out of the way fast. The problem is the body doesn’t distinguish between physical and psychological threats. So if you’re constantly stressed over a busy schedule, an argument, or money worries, your body reacts just as strongly as if you were facing a life or death situation, pumping stress hormones into your body and running on ‘red alert’.
If you frequently find yourself feeling frazzled, overwhelmed or burnt out, it’s time to take action to bring your mind and body back into balance.
Panic attacks are an abrupt onset of intense anxiety or fear, often a person can feel totally overwhelmed, confused, or as if they’re loosing control. Panic attacks can also be accompanied by a range of physical symptoms such as hyperventilating, dizziness or tightness in the chest. This can be very frightening and can even lead to the person avoiding situations, people , or anything which could possibly trigger one. Sometimes this can even lead to development of a phobia such as agoraphobia.
Phobias can develop for a number of reasons they can be an escalation of fear, start after and be directly related to a specific incident or they might be ‘displaced’ onto something else: for example, a child on a picnic may see a butterfly just as his parents are having a severe argument, instead of being afraid of his parents, he places all the fear and anxiety he was experiencing at the time onto the butterfly. It can be as simple as that, often the person doesn’t remember the original event so can’t understand why their fear and reaction is so strong and can even be ashamed of their reaction.
EFT and Hypnotherapy can be very effective and often provide relief and freedom for people who have been suffering and running their lives around avoiding their phobias for years.
